Sharks

The shark tank is the largest in the aquarium and holds about 58,000 gallons of water and a variety of fish that can be found off our coast.

We have sandbar sharks, nurse sharks, spotted wobbegongs, and a sand tiger shark. Our sharks are fed three times a week which keeps them well fed and the fish safe. Sharks have been hunted for hundreds of years for their fins, cartilage, meat, as well as for sport. With slow birth rates, many populations have not been able to bounce back from this over fishing. Because of lack of population growth, 75 of over 400 worldwide species of sharks have been listed as imperiled by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
